A Matter of Who I Am
Chapter Fourteen

(Jelnaya)

Dumourl and I both kept our promises to each other, although we both spoke of thinking that we could have used a few more hours of sleep. A few soldiers took to the challenge of taking us on separately, but they quickly bowed out. Neither Dumourl nor I had come out for a simple period of exercise, but we were preparing for taking on things much more threatening than a soldier.

I found myself completely enjoying my time with Irgamy. He was nothing like the other men that had come to court me. While others claiming some accomplishments had sought my hand, they were either arrogant louts or dreary dreamers. Irgamy had a personality that declared his successes were real, but also that a life with him would be fun.

A Matter of Who I Am
Chapter Twelve

(Namill)

I had honestly felt that we had seen enough of Davelda. It was a nice place, but I was becoming bored. My daughter would laugh at me when I said such to her, and remind me how she had spent her life up to now secluded in Marekel’s castle. She thus considered this land to be entertaining, and thought nothing of walking around each day seeing the same sights.

We were heading to a park when she looked up and exclaimed, “Oh, what type of airplane is that?”

I was attempting to make sense of what appeared to be moving drawings on the screen. A squirrel kept going for a nut that was never shown to move, but the animal kept running into traps, then finding the nut not where it was when finally arriving at the proper place. I could not help but laugh at the situations, but I also could not figure out how the drawings managed to move.

Chapter Eight

(Jelnaya)

Oh eyes who tears never more shall flow
With knees bent in prayer I cannot go
Though life still flows through my form
Red drops swirl in a clear maelstrom
By the edge my prize lays ashen
Still and limp by the Spring of Cormorphin

To Solidify the Mist
Chapter Thirty-Five

There was something very different in the approach of Decholl. He did not come with a flow of blackness. There was an area of dark around him, but it seemed to be an aura and not an inky mist. I also heard the sound of his wings as if he had to completely power his flight. I looked at him approach accepting that this encounter would be different than all the previous ones.

To Solidify the Mist
Chapter Thirty-Three

The soldiers of Octugree almost broke ranks as we approached the border of Mochsha’a property the next day. The sky was dark. Orintious spoke of the foul cloud of Decholl, but it looked to me like stalled storm clouds and not the black mist of our opponent. While the local soldiers seemed frightened by the sight of crossing into my sister’s property, I believe our group were excited to hopefully put the threat to an end.

To Solidify the Mist
Chapter Thirty-Two

The next day we came to a stop seeing a block of military before us. Ochally was instructed to get down from the horse, and a soldier gained the saddle to ride ahead. We held our position until the soldier could speak with the leader of the military and return with a message.

“Sir, it’s the baron. He says that he wants to speak to you.”

Orintious replied, “He probably wants to speak to Mochsha.”

“Uh, he knows you lead us soldiers, Sir.”
