World: TerishD's fantasy world of Antheel.
The Empress Straekin is known as the companion of Terish Dozzrine. She is actually a ruler of a separate world whose inhabitants had learned the secret of eternal life. As a cure for boredom, a number turned to studying the arcane arts. To support her people, Straekin also dabbled in magic. When Terish appeared looking for clues to some quest, the empress called the man to an interview to discuss magic. Thus started a relationship that has presisted.
Straekin is presented as a capable ruler, but one that is bored with her position even as she feels trapped into it. The people of her world like her as a ruler, although her antagonism with the political leaders of her world constantly wears down her stamina. Her time with Terish is considered vacations by most, although chances to escape by others. The stories of Terish actually have as a subplot the relationship of Straekin and the people of her world.
While Straekin is from another world, she is a part of the world of Antheel by more than simply being the close female friend of Terish. It is her name that was used to rename the magical holiday on the world of Antheel to Straekia.
