Quantola is the most powerful of the Quantol pantheon. He is the creator of Quantol and oversees all aspects of its existence. He can see far back and far ahead in the flow of time, and nothing can travel in time without his approval. He is popular among rulers and the nobility, and especially popular with historians. He views historians as his favored children. He has many followers even among the commoners as he controls the fate of all and is the bringer of luck, (both good and bad). He cares not who rules what kingdom as long as someone rules, and cares only that good and evil remain in balance. As long as existence remains and time keeps rolling on he is happy. He is somewhat distant and unfathomable - even by deity standards. He always seems to know what will happen and has never been surprised.
The churches of Quantola are kept in good repair and modestly decorated, but never ostentatiously. Each church is equal to all the others regardless of size or location. Each church runs itself as the head of the church decides. The heads of each church answer only to the High Clerist of their geographical region, there is only one High Clerist per region. The High Clerists meet every month on the first day of the month. If a serious matter arises that concerns the faith of Quantola as a whole they will have an extra meeting right then. The clerics of Quantola record historical events and also make archaeological expeditions into ruins or abandoned places. Each church has a clock or some other timekeeping device.
They pray for spells at any time of day or night. The main holy day is the first day of the year and leap-year days are also holy days. On these holy days they tell tales of historical importance and celebrate. Clerics of Quantola often multiclass as bards, druids, and rogues.
History/Relationships: Quantola appears as an elderly but impossibly fit man with a white beard, despite his appearance he is always supporting new ideas, innovations, and progress. He is a deity of change, but opposes pointless destruction of towns and cities. The destruction of places of learning and depositories of knowledge enrages him, especially if they hold stores of historical books. He opposes gods of undeath as undead are outside the normal cycle of life and their time is past. His allies include Callay Beren, Luna Lass, Deneir, Gond, and Dumathoin. His enemies are gods of death and undeath, (especially Skelemonk), and evil gods of chaos who want to destroy Quantol. Callay Beren and Quantola are married and they had a daughter 480 years ago (Luna Lass).
Dogma: Fight to preserve historical knowledge and places of learning. Never alter or conceal history. Clerics of Quantola are expected to help rebuild ruined buildings in towns to help foster renewal. Many dedicate themselves to getting rid of slums and doing urban renewal. They should help the progress of new ideas and innovations for the good of all Quantol. Always consider the consequences before acting and remember the mistakes of the past so as to not repeat them. Each day is a new beginning in the flow of time and remember no cycle remains unbroken.
