Dathol is a man with dark skin and hair that tends not to be well styled. He has a very relaxed personality. He can fight, but tends to trust in those who consider combat a part of their lives. While most look to him for advice, he tends to be more of a silent observer.

He is a respected devotee of the God Sanver. The relationship between the man and deity tends to be viewed as friends. Dathol does not go about making grand rites or sermons concerning Sanver. While it is made obvious that the two do converse, it is done in a method that does not disrupt. Dathol is not truly immortal, but required to return to the afterlife every five years of fifty. He however keeps returning to the physical realm under the pretense that he is just happier there.

The story is that Dathol was told by Sanver one morning to go meet someone that was sleeping on the archs around Merkinnist. Dathol went out to find a horse grazing and up in a niche within a partially broken arch was a young man resting. Terish Dozzrine was called down and spent time with Dathol with the two becoming friends.
