Poems: Preparation

This is a poem that I found while surfing the net. I think it completely fits with this site and with the whole ADnD theme. I hope everyone else likes it as much as I did.

Tales by TerishD: For the Sake of a Soul: XXII

The Path to Secrets
'I left the basement to move to the upper portion of the house. One would think with access to so much gold that she would have lived in more comfort. Of course, I recognized the problems. One, she was on an island where options for commerce were limited. She did have plenty of food, and what items I saw looked new. I assumed that she had used gold to barter for what I saw and the items probably represented the best that the natives had to offer. The second problem would be that if she started showing off too much gold, the natives would consider it worthwhile to challenge this edifice and do to her what I had done. She certainly acted friendly with me just to get me down in the cellar where she could have overcome me. I cannot say how many others that came close to this place were killed, and it is possible that a younger version of the woman might have thrown the ingots with better aim and strength managing to stop me.'
And so starts the chapter that introduces the personality of the Lady of Gold and develops her past.

Aster’s Path
Chapter 2: Imoen Nimblefingers
Aster is my best friend in the whole world, I can't let anything bad happen to her. She's leaving away from Candlekeep, probably never to come back. I can't let her go. Something's going to harm her, I can just feel it. Something wants to harm her. I can't let her go, I just can't. There's no way to stop her, though. Gorion is far more powerful than me. Even if I had spells I wouldn't be able stop her from going. I have to think about this.

The Lady of Gold
Terish looked at the plate of food, then ignored it to use his mouth to read more of the diary. 'Coming close to the house I found it to be smaller and not as ornate as it had appeared from a distance. The strength of the light that reflected from the white walls and golden roof surely had my mind give a large impression to the edifice.

Chapter One: Aster Swiftthought
It feels strange, being out of the barracks. There may be men only there, but they were good-hearted men forced into the world of war. Or chose to be. Either way, they were stricly forbidden near me except when we were reviewing drills. Today is the day I turn adult. A score year has passed when I was born, though the origin of my birth was strictly forbidden to me. Gorion always kept it secret. Whenever I had pondered about it, he would never answer. When I tried to get the information out of anybody else, they didn't know. Only Gorion knew.

Presenting Gerlitt Enith
Terish flipped through the pages of the book and scanned random pages of text before saying, "It is a diary. It does not appear to be a story written in diary form, but an actual diary. There is a mention of a golden lady later in the text, so I will skip through the early sections until I feel that the events concern our present topic. I am interested in this work, so will talk to Galabur later about keeping it."

BtDMH in love.

Unsuspectingly, Brian the Dungeonmaster followed a link posted on the primary forums of ADND.com while doing his morning surfing before work. What followed was a story to be written in red bound books and sealed with pink ribbon.
