The bone golem is built from the previously animated bones of skeletal undead. These horrors stand roughly 6 feet tall and weigh between 50 and 60 pounds. They are seldom armored and can easily be mistaken for undead, much to the dismay of those who make this error.
Combat: Bone golems are no more intelligent than most other golems, so they will not employ clever tactics or strategies in combat. Their great power, however, makes them far deadlier than they initially appear to be. If a character fails a Spot check (DC 40), they think the golem is actually a skeleton.
Construct: Immune to mind-influencing effects, poison, disease, and similar effects. Not subject to critical hits, subdual damage, ability damage, energy damage, or death from massive damage.
Death Laugh (Ex): Once every three rounds, the Bone Golem may throw back its head and issue a hideous laugh that causes all who hear it to make two Will saves (DC 25) to survive the horror of the experience. If one save fails, the victim is paralyzed for 2d6 rounds. If both saves fail, the victim dies out of fear. This is a mind-affecting attack and takes a standard action.
Immunities (Ex): Like a skeleton, Bone Golems are immune to Cold damage, and take half damage from slashing and piercing damage.
Magic Immunity (Ex): A Bone Golem in immune to all spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural effects, except for the shatter spell and spells that affect the bones of their victims, which affect it normally.
Converter's Note: (Reference Book: Monsterous Compendium) Ok. To start, I'm not sure that this is the correct book to reference. I'm working out of an archive PDF file that's a compilation of multiple books, and they may have merged some of the compendiums together. Anyway, I had to take liberties with abilities here to match up with the original. The "Death Laugh" didn't have a name in the original, but it needed one for the conversion, and the DC... well... what can I say? They're SUPPOSED to be scary. Otherwise, I think this turned out good. I'm not quite sure I set its CR high enough, though.
Reason for conversion: Request
