Wizards Of The Coast Releases Urban Arcana, The First Campaign Setting For The d20 MODERN Roleplaying Game

d20 Menace Manual To Further Expand the Game in September 2003

May 9, 2003 (RENTON, Wash.) — Wizards of the Coast, leading game developer and subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc., today announced the release of Urban ArcanaTM, the first campaign setting for players of the d20 ModernTMRoleplaying Game. In some stores as early as today, Urban Arcana is Wizards of the Coast’s follow-up to last year’s unveiling of the innovative d20 ModernTMRoleplaying Game core rulebook, which is a tome of play rules for all modern roleplaying game (RPG) settings.

Urban Arcana expands the magic system of the d20 Modern Roleplaying Game and features new magic items for the modern world, providing players with more material such as new races, advanced classes, occupations, feats, creatures, and rules for organizations and secret societies. Containing both short adventures and adventure hooks, Urban Arcana presents a fully detailed city for adventuring, including maps.

Urban Arcana will be followed up by the September 2003 release of the d20TMMenace Manual, which will be an extensive player’s guide to monsters, villains, and other adversaries for the d20 Modern Roleplaying Game.

d20 Modern provides game players with present day settings for their roleplaying games, and it supplies the structure for other game companies creating games in all modern settings, worlds, and themes: war, espionage, cyberpunk, horror, vampire, mutants, etc. d20 Modern players use contemporary and near-future arms and equipment while still playing with a familiar rules system.

d20 Modern and Urban Arcana use the d20 SystemTM of roleplaying game rules, the same rules system used in both the Dungeons & Dragons® and Star Wars® RPGs, and contains everything needed to run an entire campaign, including four campaign models and adventure hooks to add to existing campaigns.
