I guess this might be good depending on the story. Your preview however just seems to present the quirkiness of the game, and not any world redeeming values of the game itself. I tend to believe that this movie will just make fun of gamers (that scene about the nudist camp almost scares me away from this movie).

Just for note to others:
1) No, there appears to be NO budget for special effects.
2) The D&D books shown are NOT 4ed (this is a definite plus)
3) The D&D people shown are really odd (a lady that makes herself up as a drow, a man that says "If I haven't killed your character by midnight; I'm not doing my job", and some bearded guy that has issues)

Yesssh. I can understand wearing a costume to a convention but that makes the lady look like she dresses up in her drow kit every day. And WTF was with the naked dude, how does that even connect to D&D?

If I haven't killed you by midnight, I haven't done my job. What the heck? That is a rather counter-productive attitude. When I am GMing I try and be purely neutral (try), and just moderate the world. If you do something really stupid, yeah you're probably going to die unless a miraculous die roll saves you. But I don't set out to kill the party. Not even when running old modules with pre-generated characters for the silly nights to break up the campaigns. (Haven't had to do that in a while, with little campaign to break up at all.)

The girl who played the dark elf was made up pretty well. And if you noticed, the male dark elf was also made up and there were a lot of other people who were in costume. I wonder if they weren't at an event for that scene.

I would like to see this movie. It's at least got to be as good as Bowling for Columbine.

Umm ... I thought it looked pretty funny, actually.

My husband and I have often thought about how cool it would be to write a movie outline for a mockumentary to be produced/directed/acted by the Christopher Guest crowd (Spinal Tap, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, For your Consideration, etc). How funny if those cats did a movie set at a Con, with all the gaming stereotypes!

"It's the Common language which I'm speaking now."

"I'm rolling 14 dice." "Oh, Jesus, this is gonna be sick!"

LOL!

It was a kid that said the first, so I forgave that line. Note: he was NOT speaking Common, but English (Duh!). What your characters are speaking does not have our history, so our diction and most words will not match -- even if you are running an alternate Earth, although most run a separate planet (and universe).

The second line was spoken by a supposedly mature player. If they were d6s, I would assume that he had cast a Fireball or such. They weren't, so I really don't know what the situation was.

If I had to hazard a guess, the 14 die roll might be for dragon breath, but I didn't see what type of die he was rolling.

There is no sound on the computer that I'm using, so when it came to the skin dude, it took me by surprise. (A rather unpleasant surprise). The drow were neat. My sense of curiosity is going to have me looking for this movie.
